Creating Something Different
In 2016, at just sixteen years old, Lorenzo and Giacomo decided to make their own motorcycles stand out by designing unique graphics featuring modern styling and sponsor branding.
Unfortunately, the graphic design services available at the time failed to meet their expectations. Delivery times were too long, customization options were limited, and most designs looked outdated.
Instead of settling, they began designing and applying their own graphics. The results immediately caught the attention of fellow riders, friends, and followers, who soon started requesting custom graphics for their own bikes.
What began as a personal project quickly evolved into a genuine business opportunity.
From Outsourcing to Complete In-House Production
Without any formal background in graphic design, the brothers taught themselves Adobe Illustrator, learning how to create vector artwork and cutting paths from scratch.
Initially, printing and cutting were outsourced since production volumes were limited to their own motorcycles and a handful of friends.
As their online visibility continued to grow, however, so did demand. Requests from customers, fans, collaborators, and riders rapidly increased, making it clear that controlling the entire production process internally was the only way to support future growth.
As Lorenzo and Giacomo explain:
"There were already customization kits available for motorcycles and helmets, but everything looked fairly standardized, outdated, and came with extremely long lead times. That simply didn't match what we—and our generation—were looking for. We wanted to introduce fresh graphic styles, innovative designs, new materials, and eye-catching special effects."
Investing in Production Technology
To support their expansion, Cecchi Graphics Design established its own dedicated production facility.
After evaluating several printing and finishing technologies through live demonstrations, they invested in a Roland TrueVIS eco-solvent printer, a laminator, and two roll-to-roll cutting plotters.
The production center officially opened in 2021.
Alongside state-of-the-art equipment, the company assembled a team of both in-house and freelance graphic designers capable of handling even the most demanding customization requests.
One of the company's strongest selling points quickly became its fast turnaround time—typically just three to five business days.
Another key differentiator is their fixed-price customization model.
As Lorenzo Cecchi explains:
"Many competitors charge extra for every revision. We provide unlimited online consultations, artwork revisions, color changes, and graphic adjustments at no additional cost. It may sound risky when working with enthusiastic young riders, but after creating more than 10,000 graphic kits, we've developed enough experience to get the design right almost immediately."
When Roll-to-Roll Cutting Reaches Its Limits
Cecchi Graphics Design manufactures its graphics using premium thick cast vinyl combined with high-performance adhesives and protected with an overlaminate film.
These materials provide outstanding durability on the non-polar plastics commonly used for off-road motorcycles but are significantly thicker and more rigid than standard self-adhesive films.
As production volumes increased, these materials began exposing the limitations of conventional roll-to-roll cutting systems.
Despite using high-quality vinyl cutters, pinch rollers struggled to feed the laminated material consistently, while cutting force proved insufficient for demanding applications.
The result was slower production, frequent rework, and unnecessary downtime.
As Lorenzo recalls:
"Even with one of the best roll-fed cutting systems available, feeding issues and limited cutting force slowed our workflow considerably. We even tried modifying an older plotter, but productivity simply wasn't high enough to manufacture dozens of complete motorcycle kits every day."
Choosing the Summa V Series Flatbed Cutter
After extensive online research and discussions with several equipment suppliers, the team decided to explore flatbed cutting technology.
During a live demonstration, they tested the Summa V Series using the thickest materials they process every day.
The results immediately exceeded their expectations.
As Lorenzo and Giacomo explain:
"After testing the V Series with our thickest materials, we were impressed by both its productivity and its outstanding cutting precision."
Why the Summa V Series Was the Right Choice
Designed for professional prototyping and short-run production in graphics, signage, packaging, and industrial applications, the Summa V Series combines robust construction, exceptional accuracy, and low operating costs.
Several features immediately stood out during the evaluation process:
The brothers also had several practical requirements:
Ultimately, they selected the Summa V Series 150, featuring a 1,020 × 1,500 mm working area—large enough to accommodate a complete motorcycle graphics kit in a single setup.
Following installation and only a few hours of training, the entire team was fully operational, and the machine immediately became part of daily production.
Higher Productivity, Greater Efficiency
As the market for custom motorcycle graphics continues to grow, competition has become increasingly intense.
To maintain their competitive advantage, Cecchi Graphics Design needed to increase production capacity, reduce waste, streamline workflows, and shorten delivery times.
As the founders explain:
"Printing was already fast enough and could even run overnight. Cutting had become the real production bottleneck."
The introduction of the Summa V Series completely transformed their workflow.
The improvements were significant:
Expanding Opportunities with Digital Flatbed Cutting
Thanks to Summa technology, Cecchi Graphics Design has expanded the range of materials it can process while opening the door to new products for motocross, off-road motorcycles, and related markets.
The company plans to strengthen its position in Italy while accelerating international expansion, beginning with German-speaking European countries.
Today, the Summa V Series operates on a single production shift at approximately 50% of its available capacity.
Given the company's steady increase in orders, the founders expect to fully utilize the machine within a short period before investing in even more advanced digital cutting technology to support future growth.
Summa V Series: Precision Flatbed Cutting for Motorcycle Graphics and Decals
For manufacturers producing motocross graphics, dirt bike decals, motorcycle sticker kits, custom vinyl graphics, and high-performance laminated materials, the Summa V Series delivers the speed, precision, and reliability required to remain competitive.
Its advanced flatbed cutting technology eliminates many of the limitations associated with traditional roll-fed cutters, allowing businesses to process thicker materials with greater accuracy, reduce production time, minimize waste, and confidently expand into new markets.
Whether producing custom motorcycle graphics, off-road decal kits, or high-performance adhesive applications, the Summa V Series provides the productivity and precision needed to take manufacturing to the next level.
