Board materials

StaBility without hEsitation. ConsistEnt cuts Every time.

Summa flatbeds respond with quiet strength. Sheets stay anchored. The tool path stays calm. Whether you route dense composites, crease carton board or cut lightweight foams, the result feels inevitable. Clean edges, steady movement, predictable output.

Choosing the right cutting technique & tool

Boards vary in density, thickness and internal structure.
Those differences guide the cutting approach.

Dense materials, like acrylic, MDF and aluminium composites, respond to deliberate routing. The spindle holds a steady pace, and the edge comes out smooth and controlled.

Lighter display boards, foams and honeycomb cores cut cleanly with oscillating motion or straight‑line V‑cuts, depending on thickness.
Folding carton needs precision in two directions: a clean cut and a defined crease.

Whatever the substrate, the machine manages the force so the sheet stays undisturbed.

Once the technique matches the material, the rest stays predictable.

Board Materials

    5–8 mm Foam PVC

Used for shopfront signs, event displays and lightweight prototypes. This material stays rigid yet handles curves well. On an F Series or V Series flatbed, intricate shapes cut cleanly at speed. We recommend the Core+ module with the rigid material cutout tool or the corrugated tool for controlled edges.

    10 / 20 / 30 mm Foam PVC

Ideal for thicker display panels, routed 3D elements and durable signage. Dense enough to need a steady pass, light enough to hold form. On the F Series, cuts remain smooth. Use the Standard Router module or HF Router module for reliable depth and finish.

    10 / 20 mm Acrylic

Chosen for premium signage, display elements and polished components. Acrylic rewards precision and reveals every inconsistency. The F Series delivers calm, deliberate routing. Use the HF Router module (recommended) with acrylic bits for clean, consistent edges.

    Display Board

Common in retail POS, menus, door hangers and lightweight displays. Paper based boards respond best to controlled depth and crease definition. Cut with the F Series or V Series. Use the Core+ module with the rigid material cutout tool, and apply EOT, creasing or bevel tools when thickness requires it.

    Foam Board

Used for indoor displays, lightweight structures and craft applications. Stable but sensitive to tearing at higher speeds. Runs well on F Series or V Series. Use the Core+ module with EOT, V Cut or Bevel Cut depending on thickness.

    Honeycomb / Papercore Board

Perfect for furniture prototypes, organizers and large POS structures. The inner structure needs precise cuts to retain strength. F Series or V Series will handle it cleanly. Use the Core+ module with POT, V Cut or EOT for controlled angles and clean penetration.

    Corrugated Board

Used in packaging mock ups, short run packaging and protective structures. Responds well to defined scoring and precise tabs. F Series, F1612 or V Series excel here. Use Core+ with corrugated tool and creasing tools and the corrugated tool for clean fold lines.

    ACM (Dibond)

A composite used for outdoor signage, architectural plaques and durable panels. Rigid, dense and unforgiving. F Series handles it with measured routing. Use the Standard Router or HF Router module with coated bits for stability and finish.

    MDF

Used for shaped panels, interior elements and rigid prototypes. A dense, uniform board that calls for steady routing. F Series provides the necessary control. Use the Standard or HF Router module with multipurpose bits.

    Folding Carton

Ideal for packaging prototypes, display cartons and structural samples. Requires crisp cuts and defined creases in one workflow. Runs smoothly on F Series or V Series. Use Fast+ or Core+ with kiss cut, high precision cutout, and creasing tools.

    Corruplast

Used for signage, lightweight structures and outdoor temporary applications. More rigid than corrugated cardboard, with a hollow core. Works well on the F Series. Use Core+ with the rigid material cutout tool, POT or EOT depending on thickness above 8 mm.
