Punto Service expands its creative potential and strengthens its cardboard production with Summa V Series Integra 1620

After successfully amortizing the investment in its previous cutting system, Punto Service continues its technological journey by choosing Summa V Series Integra 1620, a flatbed cutting and milling solution designed to unlock new applications, materials, and market opportunities. 

A journey built on innovation, creativity, and continuous evolution 

Founded in Potenza in 1998, Punto Service was created around a clear vision: combining communication, digital technology, creativity, and problem-solving to deliver solutions capable of exceeding customer expectations. 

The company’s philosophy reflects the personality of its founder, Cristian Telesca, an entrepreneur who has always challenged traditional approaches within the printing industry. For more than 25 years, Punto Service has developed complex and innovative projects from one of Italy’s most beautiful yet economically challenging regions, proving that creativity and technology can overcome geographical limitations. 

Initially conceived as a street-level workshop serving both private customers and professional clients, Punto Service has progressively evolved into a complete digital production hub. Today, the company operates from a 180-square-meter facility, offering a wide range of services built around digital printing, finishing, and material transformation. 

Over the years, Punto Service has continuously invested in technology. In 2008, the company introduced a Canon Arizona GT250 flatbed printer, later replaced by an Arizona 1260 with white ink capability. In 2015, a cutting system was added, followed by an HP Latex printer, digital sheet-fed printing technologies, direct-to-garment systems, and several finishing solutions. 

This constant evolution has allowed Punto Service to respond to increasingly complex customer demands and explore new applications across multiple industries. 

A new chapter with Summa V Series Integra 1620 

After years of successful production with its previous cutting system, Punto Service identified the need for a new technological step forward: increasing productivity, reducing production times, and expanding its capabilities in cutting, creasing, and milling applications. 

In February 2023, the company introduced the Summa V Series Integra 1620, a flatbed cutting and milling system designed to provide greater flexibility and precision across a wide range of materials. 

The investment represented a significant upgrade in Punto Service’s production workflow, allowing the company to develop more sophisticated solutions while maintaining the high-quality standards that have always defined its work. 

As part of the transition, Summa supported Punto Service through a trade-in process, replacing the previous cutting system with the new Summa V Series Integra 1620 equipped with milling capabilities. 

Diversification as a key strategy for sustainable growth 

Punto Service serves a highly diversified customer base, including creative agencies, tourism companies, agricultural businesses, retail chains, associations, public organizations, and private customers. 

Its product portfolio ranges from invitations and event materials to promotional products, packaging solutions, decorative applications, wallpapers, lamps, cardboard furniture, seating solutions, and shelving systems. 

“We have experimented with and explored thousands of sectors, introducing new products, services, and technologies. Despite everything we have achieved, we still feel we are in an exploratory phase,” explains Cristian Telesca. 

“Operating in a challenging territory, where industrial and tertiary sectors are limited and tourism is still developing, diversification is essential. This is why we will continue to be a multi-service company.” 

Although Punto Service has developed an online sales platform, its core strength remains local service, where speed, customization, and direct customer relationships represent a competitive advantage compared to standard web-to-print solutions. 

The company’s five collaborators continuously test new materials, experiment with innovative applications, and develop customized solutions tailored to specific customer requirements. 

However, managing small production batches, tight delivery schedules, and the increasing complexity of applications remains a daily challenge. Advanced production technologies have always played a fundamental role in allowing Punto Service to overcome these limitations despite restricted spaces and controlled investments. 

Digital cutting as a driver of new opportunities 

Material experimentation has always been part of Punto Service’s DNA. 

In 2008, the company was among the first in its area to work with Re-board, manually cutting the material to create displays and furniture solutions. Later, with the introduction of UV flatbed printing, the range of applications expanded significantly, creating the need for more advanced digital cutting and finishing technologies. 

“In 2015, our previous cutting system was the ideal solution for our production volumes, available space, and investment capacity,” says Telesca. “It allowed us to shape almost any material and professionally manage cutting and creasing operations on rigid cardboard.” 

Over time, cardboard and packaging materials became one of Punto Service’s core business areas, with an increasing focus on premium, natural, and environmentally responsible papers and boards. 

At the same time, direct printing on materials such as Dibond, Plexiglas, aluminum, and plastic increased the demand for cutting and milling operations, requiring the company to outsource milling activities to external suppliers. 

“Although our previous system was still precise and efficient, it had become a production bottleneck,” explains Telesca. “We understood that increasing volumes while reducing production times and costs was essential for future growth.” 

In autumn 2022, seven years after the introduction of its first digital cutting system, Punto Service evaluated different European and Asian alternatives before choosing once again to invest in Summa technology.

Summa V Series Integra 1620: a new level of production flexibility 

Punto Service selected the Summa V Series Integra 1620, featuring a working area of 1,230 × 1,620 mm, equipped with a multi-tool head capable of managing cutting and creasing tools, a 1 kW milling spindle, and an integrated camera system for automatic mark recognition. 

The decision was driven not only by the machine’s combination of construction quality, compact design, performance, and investment value, but also by the reliability of Summa’s technical support and customer service. 

“We cannot afford mistakes, so we carefully evaluate every technological investment,” emphasizes Telesca. 

“Packaging, displays, corrugated cardboard, rigid cardboard, and honeycomb materials represent the future. With Integra, we are finally confident that we can manage every application and material challenge our customers bring us.” 

Thanks to Summa V Series Integra 1620, Punto Service can now produce complex three-dimensional lettering and logos from multi-layer files, as well as engravings, bas-reliefs, and applications that were previously impossible to achieve internally. 

As the company continues to expand its milling expertise, Punto Service benefits from Summa’s remote consulting support and makes full use of advanced software solutions such as V-Studio and M3 Art. 

Digital milling as a pathway toward a more sustainable future 

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in Punto Service’s strategy. 

Although customers specifically requesting eco-friendly solutions are still a minority, the company continues to promote alternatives to traditional PVC-based materials by encouraging the transition toward paper-based and recyclable solutions. 

The company works with dozens of FSC and PEFC-certified papers, offers customization on organic cotton garments, produces wallpapers using water-based adhesives, and provides recyclable outdoor paper solutions, including KATZ materials. 

For Punto Service, Summa V Series Integra 1620 represents the ideal balance between productivity, quality, footprint, and investment. 

However, the company’s vision continues to evolve, and future expansion already includes the possibility of investing in the larger Summa V Series Integra 2520, featuring a 1,230 × 2,520 mm vacuum table.
