M3 Flatrack, Container Roll-in/Out Platform (CROP)

Description

The CROP is a NATO compatible flatrack that allows intermodal transport of all classes of supply, while secured in a 20 foot ISO container. The CROP payload is higher than the M1 when loaded on the PLS or HEMTT-LHS. The CROP allows a true "factory-to-foxhole" distribution of supply with minimal or no MHE handling. Shipments can be configured in CONUS and moved to frontline units without reconfiguration or removal from the platform. Shipment back to CONUS is accomplished by folding down the A-frame, stacking 5 CROPs on the bottom CROP (with A-frame up) and inserting into a container. Intermodal shipments are more secure and less costly than breakbulk shipments. Shipment by container keeps the platform and supplies out of the weather. The CROP is galvanized for longer life and lower lifecycle cost.
